Dr. Rebecca Crane M.D. has been a practicing physician for over 20 years, completing her residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and then moving on to Kaiser Permanente. A 2001 graduate of Tufts School of Medicine, Crane had her first child a few months after receiving her medical degree. The following twenty year arc of doctoring and mothering has been an initiation into womanhood and healing that informs her current practice. Practicing in central Los Angeles, she has cared for thousands of patients from diverse cultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds. She has worked in the specialized areas of Hospital Medicine, Primary Care, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Urgent Care. She has taught medical students and residents, acted as a breastfeeding advocate and received numerous awards for patient care and medical practice.
Throughout her career she has experienced firsthand the tremendous capability of acute care and safety that institutionalized Western medicine provides, however, she has also witnessed missed opportunities for complete & intuitive healing. She attributes this to the paradigm of externalized control of health and healing, a disregard for a woman’s innate healing intuition, as well as the idea that our bodies and minds are separate. She believes when a patient is supported and encouraged they will arrive at complete health and wellness, as well as joy and fulfillment.
Her personal healing path includes a decade-long Mindful Meditation practice, and participation in silent Vipassana meditation retreats and training in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion (InsightLA) as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through her study of art and healing traditions of non-Western cultures, she brings an awareness and compassion to her medical practice in the modern context. As an operatic singer and acoustic guitar player she has discovered the incredible healing power of music and voice.
Crane has participated in sacred plant medicine rituals. She has completed a certificate program in Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and Research through the California Institute of Integral Studies and training with the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS.) She is a Level II Reiki practitioner. Every day, Crane works to broaden her knowledge of Energy Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic Medicine, and Herbalism through practice and mentorship.
